Resources for Chrono-Functional Resumes

Orly writes: I was wondering if you could give me the names of some books that you recommend for putting together a functional resume. I am changing careers and believe that my chronological resume is not having good results.

The Career Doctor responds: I would have to say that the book that seems most in vogue these days is Susan Britton Whitcomb’s Resume Magic: Trade Secrets of a Professional Resume Writer (Jist). The book is a comprehensive (almost 600 pages!) review of all types of resumes, and as you might guess given its size, spends a good deal of time on functional resumes.
